Simkl launches Promo Manager – a tool for promoting startups and online shops.

Simkl today released Promo Manager http://promo.simkl.com, a FREE service for promoting your Website, Startup or Online Shop on Twitter and Blogs in exchange for giving away Invitation codes and Promo codes (Coupon codes, Vouchers, etc…) to your users.

If you have something that people want (a Coupon code, Invitation code, some content hidden behind a secret URL, etc…), you can exchange it for a post on user’s Blog or Twitter account using Simkl Promo Manager. Simply add your promo codes to Simkl Promo Manager, enter what you want users to Tweet. Simkl will create a special page for your promo code or Invitation code which you can give to your users. Simkl will automatically post your message to user’s Twitter account or Blog, then it will check the post and will give the user his Promo code, Invitation code, URL, or whatever you choose.

Scheduled Network Maintenance – Saturday, February 13

Please note that Simkl will be performing scheduled network maintenance this Friday night to replace the core2 router. Although the time frame for the maintenance is 2AM-8AM (Saturday, February 13) (GMT-5, Eastern Standard Time (EST)), we do not anticipate any lengthy downtime as a result. We expect the transition to go smoothly, however, should complications arise during the switch to the new router, some customers might experience downtime towards the start and end of the maintenance window. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we make our network improvements.

New: Simkl now supports online web ICQ messenger

Now Simkl is able to keep the chat history from Web ICQ [V] ICQ – ICQ client for VKontakte. This is one of the first Web Instant Messengers, which was connected to the new Simkl API, that allows you to save messages to Simkl from any program and web service.

Now it makes no difference what client you use, whether desktop version, ICQ VKontakte or ICQ for mobile phone.

Update: Simkl Tray bug fixes and new WAP\PDA features

A couple of small bugs in Simkl Tray have been fixed for Windows multi user admin privileges. All fixes are now available in a new Simkl Tray v 1.6 Release which can be downloaded from http://tray.simkl.com/.

Wap\PDA interface http://wap.history.im was updated and now you are able to add new accounts using your phone.

One of the first major Extension release for Windows Live Messenger v8-v14, called Simkl Tray, has been given an overhaul with all new features for WLM.

What was already a simple and fully loaded app for Simkl IM History Saver to begin with, the new version brings users:

Simkl launches new automatic Anti-Spam detection system for Simkl IM History accounts.

Now if we detect a spam contact, it will be visually displayed in your contact list as SPAM for 7 days. If you do not reply to this contact during these 7 days, the contact will be automatically sent to Trash and will not be displayed any more in the contact list. After that you will have a choice to delete all SPAM contacts or to restore some of them.

A group of researchers at the University of Osaka managed to develop a super-small “pen” that is able to write or draw by arranging individuals atoms on metallic surfaces.

As an example, the word “Si” was inscribed on a semiconductor surface, manipulating silicon atoms (see picture). The process took 90 minutes to complete. The letters are sized at just 2×2 nanometers, about 40,000 thinner than the human hair.

Shinnosuke Abe, an associate professor at Osaka University involved in the experiment, was quoted as saying it’s impossible to create smaller letters. He went on claiming that this technology could theoretically lead to super-miniaturization of any given object in the future.
